Day 1:  Trip out of Buffalo to Las Vegas

Up at 5 am for our flight.  Sookie off to our nieghbors' home ("grandma and grandpa") for our trip.  She handled it pretty well, but was not happy--she has known for days that something was up--suitcases from the basement and piles of clothes (more than usual) are not happy signs for our dog.

Fight was smooth, but long.  Some of us really relaxed!
And off we went....got the rental car and then visited Fremont Street, parked the car and walked around vintage, "old Vegas"--it was retro and pretty neat.

We then parked our car and went to see the Belagio.  What a place!  Art gallery, Chihuly glass, and we even had some gelato.

The city was something else--we were booked for the Flamingo--with an outdoor habitat including, of course, flamingos.  We found some parrots and the girls had fun holding them and posing with them.

After a failed attempt to swim at the pool that closed entirely too early, and a quick pizza dinner, we went out into the desert night.  It was hot, gambling everywhere as soon as you get to the airport terminal, smoking indoors, homeless people and what a side show--Kiss band members wearing thongs, pictures with showgirls and dudes with no shirts, and all of this before 9pm on a Tuesday--would love to see it on a weekend later at night!

But the Casinos were beautiful, with so much to see.  Our walk included the Venetian with its gondola rides and indoor sky ceiling.  But also the restaurant and bakery from the show MG loves; the Cake Boss.   We had to wait in line to get little something, and Moe was thrilled!

At 10 pm, MG and Dad went back to the hotel to bed, while Stacey and Anna saw the Paris and a failed attempt to see the  Belagio water show--what a day!

Tomorrow, the Grand Canyon!
